WORK
I have been making quilt for many years.
These are a few examples of more recent work of birth quilts, remembrance quilts (These three similar small quilts were made for three sisters in remembrance of their parents using personal clothing.)
The larger appliqué quilts I have made into patterns to sell.
I made this chair to go with my garden quilt for the festival of quilts, Birmingham 2025 to show the versatility of appliqué. The chair is appliqué hand sewn felt with rag rug, beading and various techniques to make a textured and colourful chair.
The bags and cushion are created as examples of how to apply appliqué to objects and clothes.
A selection of the puppets made over a period of 10 years for theatrical productions and recent work for ‘Woolleyvision’ stop motion animation puppets.
This is a very small selection of the costumes I have designed and made. I have been lucky to be able to work with schools to create stage designs and costumes at both Kingston theatre and Wimbledon theatre over a period of 10 years.
Before Covid I designed and made wedding dresses. Something I had been doing on a part-time basis since 1982, seeing my way through 7 years at art school. The dress below is the one that I particularly like as it combines my love for sculpture directly with a dress design.
The brief : I love geometry and I don’t like flowers.
Jemma’s dress was great fun to create. She said that she wanted something out of the ordinary so I came up with a few ideas and the origami idea worked well. The back piece , the head piece and the fan are made from cotton organdie and folds in much the same way as paper.
Over a period of 30 years we have restored eight houses back to their former glory these photographs represent the last two restorations.
